At the recent Fan Site Summit in Austin, Texas, we had the opportunity to interview Gabe Amatangelo, the lead PvP designer for Star Wars: The Old Republic. This video is part two of our interview with Gabe, in which he continues to expound upon PvP in TOR, and why it will be different (and better) than the PvP found in other MMOs.
As he was in the first video, Gabe was exceptionally open about PvP, the direction BioWare would like to take PvP in SWTOR, what they hope to achieve, and a large number of specifics related to how PvP works on the battle fields of The Old Republic. Watch and enjoy:
Choice Quote: “Players are going to find – every time they’re in PvP they’re going to have a ‘Resolve’ bar. Every time they’re hit with a Crowd Control ability their ‘Resolve’ is going to build. And then once they have maxed out their ‘Resolve’ they’re now immune to PvP – as that ‘Resolve’ bar goes down.
So, people are going to be able to make educated decisions as to who they’re targeting with their CC, etc. They’ll be able to see and not have to hunt for little icons or know the intricacies of the system – they’ll be able to visually respond to what’s going on and how they use their Crowd Control.“

In the future, you might want to normalize the audio volume between the guest and the host speaking. The host came through exceptionally well and was very clear but substantially louder than the guest. I was having to turn my volume up and down to get to where I could hear the guest but not be deafened by the host. It might have just been that the host also knew where to speak into the mic. But it’s an idea for post processing.
