In response to a query from Majestic_Jazz, Lead Writer Daniel Erickson points out that though Star Wars: The Old Republic has Twi’leks for the Imperial faction, adding the race as a player option for the Sith Inquisitor presents BioWare with two choices: Do the Twi’lek SI’s not wear head gear at all or do their lekku simply disappear underneath the Inquisitor head gear? Here’s what Daniel Erickson says:
We have Twi’leks for the Imperial side. They even get some cool custom options. And we have aliens in the SI class since the story starts you as a slave, one of the first to try your hand at being a Sith. So it’s definitely something we could do. But the SI has a lot of hoods and a lot of awesome full face masks.
How do people feel about your Lekku actually disappearing when you put on that full face mask? Are having Twi’lek SI with all the cool gear options worth assuming you are doing some artful stuffing? Or should we just say you can be a Twi’lek SI but not wear anything that wouldn’t fit on your big crazy head?
Thoughts?

The thread is filling up fast with well thought out responses in favor of either option. One poster, Aphrodithe had a particularly good argument, I thought, for the inclusion of Twi’leks for the Sith Inquisitor:
Twi’lek’s are a race that is all about slavery. To have them be SI makes the most sense of any of the races to be that Class.

TORWars Podcast #151: Aren't You the Pretty Kitty?
My very personal opinion is that BioWare should’ve thought about aliens years ago, when designing gear. The two Inquisitor sets in the pictures here clearly show that they only thought of humans, and very-near-humans. So I think they never really wanted to make anything more exotic than the “human paintjob” species.
Simply offer a *show helm* option. Or adjust the headgear for this race, specifically catered towards their shape. Wear a helm, but have two holes for the “tentacles” on their head to come out (kind of like a chick wearing her pony tail through a baseball cap)
I guess my personal preference would be to not allow them to wear any of the gear that would cause clipping at THIS time in development. It’s too late to go back to the drawing board now.
Besides, it makes sense. Have a hat that doesn’t fit Lekku? Guess what, you can’t wear the hat that doesn’t fit Lekku, it won’t fit on your head. It should just permanently show up as hide helmet.
Honestly, no one was thinking of Lekku when they made the armor in Star Wars, so the developers didn’t think about it either. How many Twi-leks in Star Wars wear hats at all?
I am not really sure how I feel about the hat thing, I think personally I would like to see helmets/hats that fit other aliens than just humans. If for nothing else than the realism factor, humans aren’t the only ones who think about protecting their brains from being shot. Yes, I would be fine with the whole, not showing helmet thing. But for me it hurts the whole immersion thing to not have personal helmets fleshed out for the different aliens.
Hey guys, here’s my opinion. First off, I had a tough time making my twi’lek the way I wanted from the start. I think the patterns and cosmetics should be seperated. I found I needed to make a Sith Inq to get the twi’lek of my desire…:(
Next problem was the hoods, I saw other bald twi’leks everywhere and started looking into this. The best solution in my opinion. Fit the damn helmets as best as possible, and let the lekku clip out the back. Player has the option to disable.
On the same topic of hoods!.. I was disapointed that I could hide helm. but not hide hood. MY hood is apart of the chest. Would be nice to see that check box on the chesthoods, turning it off would pull back your hood (kinda like the twi’leks)…
End result, I can stack 2 helms, or have a helm and hood down. Or no helm and hood up. can also see which clip worse of the 2 and have some option to have a not so darn plain twi’lek…
Really like the twi’leks, but mine looks plain right now. My other characters just have more character. Makes it hard to play my twi’lek
Theres also the option of making the Lekku pop out the front over the shoulders when hoods are on…
But if twi’leks can pull there hoods back by default. there should be a check box to pull back hoods on all races
this is bugging me. Cause even my solutions arn’t broad enough. as some may still disagree or want sometihng else. Or not be happy with clipping as a solution and damand tailored race helms (not a good solution for bioware).
So after thinking some more I say, checkboxes for the following:
1) [x] hide hood
2) [x] hide helm
3) [x] hide crown (twi’lek option)
4) [x] push Lekku forward (around the neck onto the chest)
5) [x] Hide Lekku (stuff tendrals into helm)
having all these off, would be the twi’lek you created. Some overlapping options may have crashing geometry.. But you could hide lekku, push forward, and eventaully find something that fits well. And these seem like simple things to implement apposed to dozens of re-fitted helms. Could also please humans to take off their hoods once in a while
