SWTOR Launch Countdown App Free For Your Desktop

Barry Smith aka Arturus over at Torgamer.co.uk has made no less than four different, awesome Flash counters, counting down to the release of Star Wars: The Old Republic. And he is handing them out for free!

The US version

Here is his announcement over on Torgamer:

To mark the release dates being set for EU & US I have constructed a countdown timer that launches from the desktops for Windows and Mac.

You can access them at the following URL: http://www.torgamer.co.uk/downloads/

There us an EU folder and a US folder with the mac and windows files in them. Report all issues to admin @ torgamer DOT co DOT uk

Enjoy people!

EU Countdown

Here are the links to each download:

EU for Windows

EU for Mac

US for Windows

US for Mac

These counters go on your desktop but Barry tells me he is working on counters for website use and expects them to be available within a week:

Right, I have as yet only released the desktop ones. I WILL be releasing the flash files for websites to use this week, will be in three versions EU, US, and both combined. I want to see about making them easier to include in peoples sites.

I really like the idea of a combined one and I would add that he can put me down for one of those but these counters will also be completely free to download and use.

For those of you who have trouble reading calendars, I guess.

All kidding aside, 8.1mb for a resource-hogging Flash app that could easily have been a 400k widget instead? Pass.

  2. DV says:

Hahaha, true enough. Look at it this way though. If your computer cant handle a 8.1mb Flash app, then I dought it will run TOR.

    *chuckle*

I would have preferred a widget… Its kinda cute, I guess. In a “Holy hell its Khem Val and he just woke up without any makeup on” sort of way.

People can actually have this on their desktop and not go completely mad ? I would see that every morning and die a little inside because it doesnt say 0 :P . Best way for me to wait for ToR is to not think about tor. (except when i check torwars for new news.

I think its a wonderfully fun idea. It’s meant to invoke a smile, not madness… I mean really, what’s more maddening… watching the clock tick down, or not knowing the release date?

If anyone on Blogger wants to use it, feel free. It is based on a clock from Javascriptkit.com.
