Mass Effect 2 the best RPG? Hell, yes. It can hold the crown until December.
Gamepro has a sure-to-be-controversial ‘15 Best RPGs‘ list up today. While these types of “Best of the best” lists can never please everyone reading, I found this collection quite interesting. BioWare holds two positions in the top 10 including Dragon Age: Origins at #6 and Mass Effect 2 in the coveted #1 slot.
Fallout: New Vegas at #2 and Fallout 3 nowhere to be found? No Final Fantasy in the top 15? Madness. Nevertheless, a big “Gratz!” goes out to BioWare for topping the chart. Read it.

Wow. Somebody in the voting booth was either bribed or stupid. lol Well, I’m iased myself, as I found ME2 to be a big yawner. Still, gratz to BW for getting both games on this list.
I agree. ME2 was great as far as the decision making and how it influenced the endgame, but it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to easy. I died many more times in DA:O.

To Bryan above, the list was for “Current Generation games only” so that is why there wasn’t a single Final Fantasy game.
Regardless, that list was total dogshit, really screwed the hamster with this list. I never checked out Gamepros site and now I am glad I never did. I like a lot of the games listed, but their ordering of them is downright atrocious.
Since they counted the Tatics Ogre remake they should have had the Final Fantasy Tactics remake as well, games plot, class system, gameplay are great and has basically the best soundtrack ever. I agree with their #1, if not Mass Effect than Fallout 3 deserves that spot.
Overall this gen has been utter crap for single player RPGs. A pretty sad list even if it was accurate.

Unless you took a significant amount of representative gamer population from all over the world, any “best of” list will merely be the opinion of that particular person or group.
ME 2 is my all time fav game. I did really like DA:O but I enjoy the action feel of ME2 with the story and other RPG aspects. FFVII was a great game for it’s time, but games have come a long way in the last 14 years or so.

because best RPG of all time is Baldurs Gate..
but as usual, some1 is bored so he made up some list of games he knows of.. you know where im headin with this
Oh yeah, Baldurs Gate was so great… I miss Keldorn, the crazy paladin..
There were probably just casual gamers who likes it easy that voted, sure ME2 is good, but as pointed out, Baldurs Gate is a hell of alot better.
Though, atleast Bioware got to be nr 1.
