TORWars Podcast #55: NDA Breaker!

Play

This is an exciting time for us here at TORWars – the SWTOR NDA has finally dropped! This means that we can finally talk about all aspects – yes, everything – of Star Wars: The Old Republic. Truth be told, this is actually a big relief for us. We’ve been keeping this stuff bottled up for so long, we thought we were going to explode.

Finally, after seeing, hearing, and playing the game, we're talking about it!

In this week’s podcast, we talk about all kinds of formerly forbidden subjects. In particular, we spend some time talking about Outlaw’s Den, the new free for all open world PvP zone. Of course, that’s not all – we talk about the newly revealed Legacy system, the upcoming beta “stress test”, and the exciting flashpoint called “The Hammer”. Near the end of our ‘cast we also spend some time discussing our impressions of the game including character creation, the cyborg race, the starter zones, early quests, and anything else we could think of.  It’s a very, very full show.

Of course, after you’ve listened in, leave us a comment, below. Now that the NDA has dropped, what do you want us to talk about on next week’s podcast? We want to hear from you!

Hello, I would like to know more about the healing features:)

  2. bleed1379 says:

The grinding is ok, because you have to kill them on the way to your main quest.

  3. Fobok says:

Question before I listen: Is your podcast, now that the NDA is gone, going to remain story-spoiler-free?

    • David Moore says:

      Hi Fobok,

We try, and will continue to try, to not reveal any major story spoilers.

However, we do talk about some Origin World play and first companions.

  4. Fallerup says:

first of all, I have to say, there is one thing I don’t like about TOR. The Legacy system seems nice, BUT I dislike the fact, that you can choose a sir name for all your characters. I find it lame. It may work, if all your characters are human or related to humans or all are twi’lek and so on. a Zabrak & a human, can never be related. a Sith Pureblood and Human can, since Sith Pure Blood are partly human. Every species is a humanoid, but I can’t see them being related. So it’s good that I can turn it off.

    The rest is fine.

Outlaws Den sounds very cool. It really sounds like all the uber good crystals and so on are in PvP zones doesn’t it? Ilum has them too.

I ordered the Revan novel, I can’t wait to read it :)

  5. Jonas Birk Jensen says:

I’ve e already read it, the shop in which i ordered it send it to me the 4th, before they where allowed to sell it xD.

  6. LordSepp says:

Loved the ‘different levels of horny’ pun. My nose thanks you for parts of my morning coffee ;)

    Greetings from Germany

  7. Garrett says:

Do you think that they will have barbershops in the game like WOW?

  8. Wiz says:

The only thing that disappoints me about the character creation is the body types. While there may be 4, there are really only 2 worth choosing from (scrawny or fat don’t inspire me). This will probably mean less diversity in character shapes and sizes. Combine that with everyone looking human, and you’ve got a very homogeneous population.

    • wolten says:

That and every race has the same customization scars/complexion and haircuts for the most part.

I actually made a zabrak and a mirialan that looked identicle with the same “jocker” scar, and skin tone. I bet I could make a cyborg that looked identicle to those two too.

Where’s my nautolan?!? Or even the rodians?

  9. Baffle says:

You guys do a great job, I listen every week, one of the best! Keep up the awesome work, just don’t reveal any story spoilers in your podcast before launch!

  10. Kaytsu says:

Have developpers talked about weekly/monthly/live maintenance? And if they have could you guys (David and Jeff) talk about that in next NDA podcast.

  11. darth something says:

    Great podcast again.
I went to great lengths to get my Revan novel. I finished in les than a day. I really enjoyed it, and the ending was great imo, it was nice to learn the fate of Revan & Exile, and the truth behind the Sith Emperor who i can only say is pretty damned scary…

  12. BooBoo says:

Dude you gave the character creator at an 8-ish? Respectfully disagree there. I’m not one of those guys that thinks the sun rises and sets on the character creator, but that character creator was extremely limited in selections. While it IS better than WoW’s, it’s not better by much. Most people hate it.

  13. Kyle K says:

Just wanted to state, that I really enjoyed the podcast. I would love to hear the audio of Stephen Reid chastising you guys about the Legacy System question!

  14. Cindy says:

The character creator while a bit limited has really nice choices, I don’t have any complaints about the aesthetics, we just need more options like more hairstyles.

  15. Tungsten Wolf says:

They need to just add the cyborg(metal face pieces) options to ALL the races. I don’t see the reasoning for not implementing it that way.
