TORWars & Condemned Present: SD-O: World Boss of Coruscant Video Strategy Guide:

Video Transcript:

“Hi there and welcome to another Condemned video guide. Condemned is a hardcore, Republic, team-based PvE and PvP guild on an EST server. My name is Falkenburg, and I’ll be your host – and in this video, we’ll show you the strategy to take down SD-Oh, the world boss of Coruscant.

You’ll find SD-O in the Galactic Market section of Coruscant, and the hardest part of this fight will be getting your entire group in the same instance or shard of the world and to the right place. SD-O is surrounded by trash when you approach, and you’ll want to make sure that these trash packs are taken out before beginning the fight, so that they don’t agro.

For this encounter we ran a full operation group of 24 players. We used 2 tanks, 8 healers, and 14 damage dealers, though you can certainly win the fight with less healers – we recommend 6.

At the beginning of the fight, our tanks have postioned SD-O at the center of his platform, to avoid any respawning adds. From there, the fight is a simple tank and spank, with two additional mechanics to be aware of.

The first mechanic is a simple tank swap. Throughout the fight SD-O will stack a debuff on its current target that increases damage taken by 5%. Your main tank will want to let this debuff stack to 4 times and then call out for a swap, at which point the offtank should take over. When your offtank has reached 4 stacks, they should call out, and the process repeats.

The second mechanic is an ability called Ionized Stream. This channels a beam of high damage to the current tank and must be interrupted.

Finally, SD-O has an enrage timer of 8 minutes, so your damage dealers will need to ensure that they’re on top of their rotations.

At the end of the day SD-O is one of the simpler boss fights in Star Wars: The Old Republic – as long as your tanks and interrupts are on the ball, you’ll find this to be a piece of cake.

Thanks for being with us today – I’m Falkenburg, and this has been another Condemned movie guide.”

    Boss down! Bravo!

  2. IMatricksI says:

I have to admit, I seem to remember one of the Bioware devs stating that standing around whacking a boss wasn’t an engaging experience, yet that’s about as static a fight as I’ve ever seen…

Still awesome to have world bosses in, though.

  3. Falkenburg says:

You’ll see a fight that requires more movement a bit later today, when we present Subject Alpha, World Boss of Taris.

  4. Ajay says:

Great video! Is that a new TORWars logo cinematic?

I’ve seen this world boss on Coruscant. Basically told a few people around me, when asked to take him on as a party, that we would require a raid for him lol. The boss mechanics are quite simple, but that’s what I would expect for a fairly low level area. Any clue on respawn time for that boss?

  5. Falkenburg says:

    Ajay–

Respawn time is on a random timer that will spawn him between 2 to 4 hours.

  6. Scotty says:

Nice. But this being a new MMO and all – people aren’t as familiar with the skills yet, especially for classes they haven’t played. You might mention which skills work to interrupt the Ionized Stream.

  7. Falkenburg says:

    Scotty:

Thanks for the feedback and your question. The following abilities will work with interrupting SD-O’s Ionized Stream. All are available to their respective classes at level 18.

    Jedi Knight – Force Kick
    Jedi Consular – Mind Snap
    Smuggler – Distraction
    Trooper (Vanguard) – Riot Strike

  8. deathless says:

We’ve done it’s equivalent on Dromund Kaas, but with a group of 4 players. (tank was level 32 :) )

  9. Cassius81 says:

To be honest the group size for the kill seemed like overkill. I’d hazard a guess that an 8 man group would be able to down the world bosses. Probably take a fair while longer though.

  10. Falkenburg says:

A lot of it will depend, Cassius, on the collective DPS output of your group. The boss has 275,000 health and an enrage timer of 8 minutes. It’s certainly doable with less than 24 (many of our guild members in this video were significantly under-leveled for the fight) – but again, it all depends on the numbers the operation group is putting out.

  11. Angel says:

Actually before joining up with condemned I ran with a pug group against S-DO and we ran into a few issues. We had about 15 players of varies levels from 14-22, we got the boss down to about 75% before we couldnt keep up on heals. We were running 3 healers 2 tanks, 10 dps. Heals eventually ran out of energy. Granted the healers were the lowest levels in the group to include myself at the time being only 14. That and I can assume the tanks were probably unaware of the swap and interrupts were probably not made. Either way, a group going into the fight unprepared assuming its a free kill will run into trouble at the lower levels.

  12. gecho says:

Is it me or was the guy filming and the second tank only level 20? And then the world boss dropped epics? This is interesting. Wonder if there is a chance of modable items dropping in which case I can see higher lvls will be farming these bosses I think.

    • Trae says:

      @gecho

The boss does indeed drop purple items. I believe the item levels are around 16ish. We saw “mods” drop mostly. Not all world bosses will drop purple, but some do.

  13. Ajay says:

Beat SD-0 just now with a group of 16. I was one of the tanks. Helped with interrupts and tanked for a bit of it.

  14. Paul says:

gosh… i will never be able to fight something like this without messing up :/ “stack up 4″ i don’t even know what is happening… LOL…
ah well. there is enough to do for me in the game.
It looks awesome to see so many people work together…
