Hello, TORWarriors and fellow Apple fan-boys! With a little more than two weeks since release of Star Wars: The Old Republic, we have a new bit of hope to look forward to!
All Aboard
In a recent interview with Massively, BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk noted they are very aware there is an audience out there that would like to see the game come to the Mac platform. The most promising part of this article comes in the form of Dr. Zeschuk assuring fans that BioWare is at least looking into a possible Mac port for SWTOR.
“We know there’s a big Mac audience of BioWare fans … we know that’s an important and large audience. And we want to serve that audience”.
“That’s definitely one of the things we’re looking at next.”
With no hint at a possible timeline and/or release date, we will just have to keep our fingers crossed. I know there are a few Mac users out there, that like me, wouldn’t mind giving our “other” computers a shot at playing our newly discovered obsession.

OMG this would be so cool. I just hope they make/release a native OSX game (à la WoW) instead of something that runs with Wine/Cider (à la EVE or Fallen Earth).
If there is a good OSX port it will use OpenGL, good news to run it on Linux, really don’t care at all about Apple fanboys and iZombies but this is very good news indeed.
Issue #1: Swtor doesn’t run well on lower end hardware.
Issue #2: Macs are lower end hardware.
Issue #3: Mac users will cry and whine about terrible performance.
Issue #4: The game will suffer since they spend so much time trying to fix the Mac client from the god awful 5 yo hardware Apple sell to people.
In the end they probably wont make a Mac client. If you think they will read the above 4 issues. And yes I do own a Macbook and an iPhone. I just don’t kid myself and I have a PC to play games on.
@Arp How come Mac users (me) isn’t crying about the performance now? Im running this on bootcamp – Im pretty sure this doesn’t change my hardware? (this is a rhetorical question I just made to point out how stupid your list of Issues is, considering mac users are playing this game allready)
