Yes, it’s that time of the week, friends and neighbors – time for this week’s TORWars podcast. In this week’s ‘cast, we cover a lot of ground – we talk about some of the unintended consequence of the “Rise of the Rakghouls” update, the updated maintenance schedule, what server groups are (and why you should love them), what it means when George Lucas says he’s “retiring”, and even how TORWars got a mention in the L.A. Times.

"From now on, I shall only make small, artsy films....
Of course, that’s not all. We discuss why players might want to become Founders (it might be “kind of important” 3 years from now), what the devs had to say this week, and what the “ability delay” is, and why you probably hate it. We also take a nice turn through UI changes, new guild features, and what the latest Warzone may bring.
Beyond all this, we explore the subtle announcements regarding the Legacy System – will it open up new character customization options (probably yes)? Will it open up new species and class combinations (almost definitely)? Will it give you new powers and abilites (oh yes, it will)? This most intriguing of topics, while not yet in game, is one we thoroughly explore.
Of course, beyond all this, you’ve got the savory TORWars flavor peppered throughout this week’s ‘cast – sarcasm, bitterness, cynicism, mindless bickering, and some astonishing feats of immaturity – all of which means this is guaranteed to be a good show. So listen in, dear friends, and after you’ve heard the show, tell us what you think. Leave us a comment, below – we want to hear from you!
*UPDATE* – In the ‘cast, the email given for CRR was erroneous. Bad us! The email address for Corellian Run Radio is actually corellianrun[at]gmail[dot]com NOT corellianrunradio[at]gmail[dot]com

Great podcast was wondering if you guys watched the Oprah interview with George Lucas? Also, Jeff when do you think the time era would be if George were to make another SW movie. I am guessing before The Phantom Menance since Harrison,Mark, and Carrie are all old.
This is pure speculation on my part, but my guess is that he makes something in the Star Wars universe, but unrelated to what we have now. I’m also going to guess that he does his like 5 years or so from now, when he starts thinking about his legacy.
So, for example, a story that takes place 100 years after the last SW movie, involving completely different characters.
Again, purely a guess.
Well, there’s already a completed comic book series set ~130 years after the last movie, so…
Besides, I’m pretty sure Lucas said ages ago that there weren’t going to be any more Star Wars movies (the intro movie for The Clone Wars notwithstanding). He has been working on a live action TV series set between the two trilogies, but right now it’s on hold until they figure out a way to make it on a less… Lucas-esque budget.

Personally, I’d like to see a post “Battle of Endor” trilogy. Something like the “legacy of the force books” that are about Luke’s, Leia’s and Han’s children. it goes on about 30′ish (31-32) years after the battle of Endor. Because the books are awesome and because, like you said: Harrison, Mark and Carrie are old now so they would be perfect for the role of playing people that re in their late 50′s.
thoughts?
If you haven’t read the 9 book series, you really should. what I find unique about it, as I did with KoToR 2, is that it has a heroine instead of a hero in it.
movie 1: book 1-3, movie 2: 4-6 movie 3: 7-9 would be perfect.
1) I like how server groups are a big deal to you when they aren’t technically part of the game, but a broken game mechanic wasn’t a big deal at all. My priorities are different, but to each his own.
2) I really hope you meant to say that you are near-sighted, which is why you like small text. If you are far-sighted, making text smaller on a screen doesn’t make a lick of difference – the screen is the same distance. Now if you like to play real close to the monitor because you are near-sighted, I could understand that you prefer small text.
3) In your options, you can increase the maximum zoom distance – this will alleviate the Khem Val screen fills until a more customizable UI comes out.
bug fixes that still need doing: fixing the IA story missions, after carefully reading patch notes, I can say, they are STILL, bugged.
I think, with the ress thing… did you know, that if you camp someone’s corpse, you could, as a Smuggler or IA do an orbital strike or the smuggler ability like it, if you cast it on the area where the corpse was just as ppl ress, you can damage the person ressing, even if he’s invisible? Because they aren’t immune to damage. Here is what ressing is and my solution: when you ress, you are invisible, BUT not immune to damage. solution: make people immune to damage while they are invisible. I was corpse camped by a smuggler that did this for AN HOUR! in Ilum. A whole hour of terrible experienced play. fix this, NOW!
about ability delay: Jedi knight’s power attack (I think it’s called) and the Sith warrior Assault (I think), it is a stab or something. it has a casting timer and people feel that, while it is powerful, it is useless in PvP, because of the casting animation. it is useless, because ppl just move away and you miss them.
for Ranking: I hope that they group all the battlemasters together and all the champions and so on, so that ppl that are not uber geared dont get rolled all over when they enter, IF you choose to start to PvP at 50 and not farm it before 50.
the lightning comment: I want red or blue lightning for warriors. If you look at the Deceived trailer, Darth Malgus shoots lightning in it, I want it!
They fixed the Illum valor farming FAST because it was GAME BREAKING. I hate this podcast, you guys talk about stuff from an outsiders viewpoint, like you read a bunch of forum posts, got the general idea, and then report on it and throw in your uninformed opinions, like you did here on the Illum exploit.
You both classify it as “gamers que queing over stuff that doesnt matter” and then note how it was fixed soooo fast. Bioware had to fix it that fast cause it broke the entire pvp progression system, people went from very low level pvp ranking too Battlemaster, maxed out in some cases. They did this in a single day exploiting a bug Bioware should have caught in testing, several people legitamately unsubscribed because of this. THey had put 4-5 weeks into pvping very hard, and then a patch comes and people can attain their same rank in a day. In MMO’s, I have never seen anything destroy progression like that in a single day.
So yeah, just really pissed you can poo poo people griping about a game breaking bug and then not even fully explain the context of what was happening, not sure you even fully understand what was going on.
