Earlier today, Marshall pointed you at a story from MMORPG.com where the endgame for Star Wars: The Old Republic was discussed. If you’d like another writer’s view, GameSpy has also written up their first impressions of SWTOR’s post-level 50 elder game.
G-Spy’s Leif Johnson says he was enjoying his Jedi’s story so much he feared reaching its conclusion. Now that he’s at end game – what’s the verdict? Johnson says he still has plenty to do and enjoys logging in but that isn’t to say he, and the fellow players he chatted with, don’t have issues. No real need to ever leave the fleet and difficulty in finding players to group with are two of the downsides mentioned. Johnson also thinks “BioWare severely underestimated how quickly players interested in raiding would reach the level cap.” Read it.
G-Spy Quote:
“I didn’t want to reach level 50. By the time my experience bar flipped over to level 49, I found myself dreading each new tick toward the endgame, knowing that the story-based leveling experience I’d grown to love was about go the way of Alderaan. Over the previous 130 or so hours, my character had seen close friends die, had battled and befriended worthy Sith, and had even fallen madly in love.”

Plus the end game sucks right now, especially the PvP.
It’s true, the only thing to do in this game is to roll another character and do their story.
The pve content is fun endgame, especially the raids. EV and Karagga’s are both fun, and decent enough challenge for entry level raiding.
Ilum is the only end game downside. Warzones are great.
End game is fine for only being out a month and a half. It’s not perfect, but there’s lots to do between the hard modes, operations, and PvP.
I totally agree that 50 came too soon. I loved my story and was sad when it was over.
I’m @ 49-1/2, my quests are all grey (I’m in Belsalvis). I have about 600 more warzone commendations to make an even thousand of each. I really don’t want to pvp at 50, I played Rift. Enough said on that. I did it before 50 for tank gear. So I will drag my Jugg into every warzone I can until I get my marks, then go hunt done the daily quests.
Here’s the thing folks, expectations of MMO’s today are set way too high. Remember your first months in the behemoth that become World of Warcraft? Do you remember what you were doing when you hit your first level cap in AoC, or any other MMO for that matter? None have ever been as polished as SWTOR after just 1 month.
That was a bold statement, let me rephrase that, none that I recall have even been so polished. I am by far what the new mmo community refers to as “fanboy”, au contraire mes amis, I am a 37 yr old father of 2, married and have been a gamer since I laid my hands on a game called Pitfall. I am married with 2 kids and get lost in general chat when I start to see all sorts of acronyms flying around of which I only know but a few such as “noob” (dumbest word I’ve ever heard), l33t (utterly stupid concept and a hack job on the english written word to boot! and believe it or not I am french canadian!) and last but not least I recently learned what FOTM means… “flavor of the month”… yes I may be lost in the new “lingo” but I am far from being a “noob” and quite far from being a “fanboy”.
I am extremely critical and have been so since early beta days rolled onto my virtual doorstep. For having been out a month, this game has a fantastic amount of end game activity, albeit a tad bit redundat with the daily’s, it’s a business decision that makes total sense, anyone loving the game will gripe, but they will log on to do them nevertheless, “gotta get that Rakata implants and earpiece!!”
From a non-official critic’s point of view levelling is not too fast, I am playing an alt 1 to 2 hrs an evening, and I do not feel like the process is fast at all… ok I levelled my main in 6 days and by the 19th of Dec I had already hit cap, but, I took my holidays and was logged in early on the 13th of dec. and I did nothing but play undisturbed (thx to my wife for understanding my need for gaming).
Here’s another acronym I learned and forgot to mention… I “lol” at people with all their self-entitlement who yell out loud that the end game “sucks” and that the levelling is too fast! (pro-tip, play less and it won’t be that fast!).
The game is just fine where it is, with everything that they are doing right, the very “few” errors (being worked on) can easily, EASILY be overlooked by the majority of players with any “real” experience in gaming.
