Star Wars Laughs: Eight Things More Unethical Than Han Shooting First

Say your prayers, you insignificant (and smelly) Tauntaun!

Lately at the site we’ve been debating the topic of Han Solo and whether or not he shot first in the original Star Wars film. Well, it seems we’re not the only folks discussing this important topic and passing judgement. In fact, movie blog, Screen Junkies has an article up entitled “8 Things From ‘Star Wars’ More Unethical Than Han Shooting First“.

If we take a closer look at scenes we’ve simply accepted from childhood as correct, we may come to new and disturbing conclusions. For example, using a clone army? Is that ethical? How about the severe mistreatment of animals such as the sacrificing of a poor Tauntaun? Oh, it get s better…read it.

Screen Junkies Quote:

“8. Using An Army Of Clones
How are the Jedi OK with this? Aside from the fact that no one really knew who made the clones, doesn’t Yoda have any qualms about the fact that these soldiers were raised in pods and have life outside of battle? It’s one thing to raise an army. It’s another to use a bunch of slaves you made in a test tube.

7. Animal Abuse
Killing a savage bounty hunter is totally verboten in Lucasland, but picking off womp rats is just innocent ‘boys will be boys’ fun? That’s crap. Luke Skywalker’s predilection towards killing animals should indicate that not only is he not fit to lead a rebellion, but probably shouldn’t be someone you’re hanging out with in any capacity. And let’s not forget Han Solo’s total disregard for the life of his poor Tauntaun.”

    Lol, funny little read.

To be fair to the Jedi they did have some issues with a clone army but there wasnt really much they could do about it. And they would have completely alienated themselves from the Republic had they withdrawn themselves from the war (i.e. see what happened when jedi chose to abstain from waging war in EU content). Also the appearance of a Sith Lord(s)took precidence for them I believe.

What about using Bothan’s for intelligence even though they are horrible at it. I mean why did so many of them have to die to get the death star plans. I mean didn’t they have hacker bots in the rebellion. Nah just send a boatload of Bothans the lemming’s of the rebellion.

I don’t get the issue with Han Solo and the Tauntaun… where is the animal abuse?

    this is all bullshit lol…..

many jedi had concern about the clone like Kalak says……

Luke skywalker was not shooting at womprat for fun, it’s an expression, like if they sayd i could shoot a mooving fly (small bugs) from 200 feet far………..

Han solo have regards for any species, even if he don’t like them, but survival first! the wampa died anyway so what’s the problem? or he use some dead tauntaun grease to save the life of Luke, or they both die from cold and star wars end there! don’t forget it’s a movie……

wookies’s life bond isn’t enslavering, cause it’s their own choice, if you still think it’s enslavering, then i would say yes! but they enslave themselves….han solo do not like the life bond!!

Guys, you should really read the star wars book collection, this way you’ll know more about those characters’s thinking… in fact, even boba fett is a good person when you get to know more about him.

my dad always told me…when you don’t really know what you are talking about, then just shut up!

    ……………………………………………

there is only one thing that kinda troubled me because of the way it’s said, brainwashing ewoks to fight for your war … i admit that it sound bad a bit, but it’s rebelion so all help is accepted, and if I remember it right, luke and c-3PO didn’t brainswashed the ewoks, luke made c-3PO levitate so they finaly listen to them,( and so they dont get roasted too! ) and c-3PO told them all the story with sound effect and all……they choose to join the cause.

    there!

      This^^^

The author of the article has clearly never read a SW book before. He refers to Greedo as a “Savage Bounty Hunter”, Greedo was just some kid that was manipulated by REAL BH’s into confronting Han. And for me that makes Hans story even better, he SHOULD be a scoundrel that shoots first, that makes his transition into a Hero of the Republic better.
