Have you been on-the-fence about whether or not to purchase any of the offerings in Razer’s Star Wars: The Old Republic line of gaming peripherals? They certainly don’t come cheap and a review would certainly come in handy.
Thankfully, Don Hatfield at MTV Multiplayer has had some hands-on time with the mouse and headset and has provided an opinion. The verdict is favorable. Read it in-full.
MTV Multiplayer Quote:
“Let’s be honest here… Game branded peripherals just seem like a quick way to grab some extra cash behind the release of a new title. Unless you’re completely in love with a particular franchise there’s just no reason to buy branded hardware over the standard issue. However, the Star Wars: The Old Republic Gaming Mouse and Gaming Headset that Razer sent over are probably some of the best PC peripherals I’ve ever used. The functionality is top-notch and they just look plain awesome.”

That’s great, but what I really want to know about is the keyboard. While I would never shell out $250 for a keyboard, I would love to know how those programmable buttons and touch screen are integrated into the game. Maybe in a year when someone releases the same functionality for $100 I’ll snap it up.
Wish they had a lefty version of that mouse.
Of course its favorable… When you let fanbois review your gear its going to be aces across the board.. send me one.. I hate this fkin game.. Ill give you an honest opinion
If you hate SWTOR soooo much, why post on a SWTOR fansite? You’re just making yourself look like a complete asshole. Just cancel your sub, unlike the facebook page (you’re undoubtedly the kind of shithead who “hates” a game so hard yet keeps tabs on it), and fuck off back to WoW and wait for the wacky world of P.F. Chang’s expansion.
I actually have the mouse and the headset. I’ve never had a gaming mouse before and I found that using all those buttons on the side of the mouse quite easy to use after just 10 hours of game play. The only part that I have yet to figure out is the wireless mode. The base doesn’t seem to work for me. Something I have to figure out I guess. The headset is the most comfortable and best sounding headset I have either had as well.
The price for both is very expensive, but worth the buy.
Is the headset heavy? It looks like it might be from the photos.
Have yet to see them in stores, back-ordered on the site too…
I have the headset. It looks both heavy and incredibly uncomfortable, and I can confirm that it’s actually neither. It’s very light and is without a doubt the most comfortable headset I’ve ever worn for long-haul gaming.
The headset itself is great, but the swtor version of synapse 2 does leave a lot to be desired.
Surprised this hasn’t been asked yet, but what is the difference between the mouse reviewed here and the plain Naga? You can get a wired version of the latter for $80.
The mouse is 139 retail. You can get the naga for under 70 on amazon.
Razer schmeiser, Naga schmaga. I’v had my four button minature gigantic space hamster with a wheel as my companion for ages, and me and Boo will rule over you fancypants, forever.
I agree with others that the SWTOR-branded peripherals are ridiculously overpriced. It’s almost insulting when you consider a Razer Naga or a Logitech G700 (my personal fave) are about half the cost.
Unless you just gotta have the SWTOR branding on your gear for whatever vanity reason, you are overpaying and getting suckered if you bought these thinking they are somehow superior to other gaming peripherals out there.
Personally, I like Logitech. I have the G700 wireless gaming mouse, the G110 gaming keyboard, and the G930 wireless headset. They all use the Logitech “G button” programmable shortcuts and work seamless together. And I think I bought all 3 of them on sale for less than what someone would pay for the SWTOR keyboard. Just sayin’.
