Sounds interesting – looks like this might be how they “relaunch” Illum.

  2. RS2 says:

Sounds good, not sure about adding a rep grind though.

  3. bk says:

i personally like rep grinds, at least its an option for something else to do, with typically some nice and unique rewards.

I will however mention (Just as a fun fact) that i am 99% sure i have heard / read SWTOR team state they were not going to go the rep grind route. Chalk it up to never say never i guess.

    • Knighthammer says:

I think the game that “was to be” is not the game we got (or are getting). The old team made a lot of promisses(maybe to strong of a word) but at any-rate, that was then, this is now.

  4. RS2 says:

Having read it again it’s somewhat of a concern that not once does it actually mention PvP.

  5. Uwotmate says:

    Rep grinds … yay….

  6. Afrogoth says:

Nope. No mention of PVP. Just recurring event, that could or could not include a little PVP.

  7. Vril says:

It is a recurring pve event in the pvp zone, an incentive for people to come out and join in for something other than cracking each other skulls. It is a step in the right direction. Also, I like the idea of faction/rep grind, something new to do at 50.

  8. Thander says:

The Gree event looks to be very much like the Darkmoon Faire in WoW. A repeating event every few months to keep people logging in. The reputation gains per event would be low enough that it would take several Gree events to get max reputation and the best rewards.

I’m wondering how the reputations will work for players that have already completed all quests at max level. Some players like to just focus on one main character. Will those players have to make alts to get more reputation (Legacy-wide)? I guess they could repeat Heroic missions every day, but I can’t see that increasing reputation very quickly.

One thing they could add to fix this by adding reputation “tokens” from the daily commendation venders. Using the token (right-click) would add +100 to the reputation, and there would be different tokens for each reputation (except Gree which is only gained from the event). Bioware would have to figure out a good cost for them, but something like 20 commendations for +100 rep.

    • Blinkwise says:

It looks like there is a max amount of reputation you can get per week (see the screenshot included in this article). That way people don’t feel the need to lvl massive alts.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that weekly cap was the amount a single player would get if he did all the dailies available in a given week.

  9. WonkoTheSane says:

This reminds me of Derfer (however its spelled) expansion in STO, which introduced their diplomacy (essentially) rep system.

and where did who come up with “Binkleboodle” legacy?!?!?!

  10. Chunk says:

We’ll see how it turns out. The Gree thing is interesting except for the fact I can’t stand PVP. So if I have to do a lot of it, I just won’t go to Ilum at all.

The Rep stuff sounds interesting too. Wonder how they’ll do it. Like will I take my lvl 50 amd smash my way through the beginner planets, or will there be enough missions spread throughout I can work on Rep in lvl 50 areas?

  11. Foxesforsale says:

I’m interested in the rep stuff, but am withholding judgement until we have more information. I’d like more *new* cosmetic and convenience rewards – this might end up being instead of paying using credits for legacy stuff though, so… I dunno. We’ll see.

I’m glad they’re putting more on ilum – hopefully this will encourage more incidental open world pvp, and small world skirmishes like in he rakghoul event.

  12. THE Obtuse says:

we had non stop interesting pvp in Helm of graush pvp server during rhakghoul time on tatooine. if what appears here is a recurring event, in which you have a set amount of time to reach a goal and there is fighting against the opposing players in pursuit of this goal, i can also imagine this when it randomly starts rallying the fleets ALERT, SOS RECEIVED FROM FORCES ON ILUM and you have to rush over to assist.

what i’m saying maybe its an event that lasts a relatively short time, and resets a few times a day or several / week. kind of like an enemy attack you have to respond to

  13. Fayme says:

Witholding judgement until I know more. But I don’t have high hopes. Bioware has a bad track record of coming up with ideas that have potential *cough* legacy *cough* but they are poorly implemented.

  14. Captmurphy says:

Despite what a lot of PVE’rs are belly-aching about on the forums and (a little here), I really do hope this has a bit of PVP focus, well at least for the western ice shelf portion of this patch. The PVE community gets a constant barrage of dailies, flash points, and operations throughout the year. What does PVP get? One new warzone every six months, or so? God forbid they put some elder game content in that isn’t PVE focused.

  15. The_Dark_Lord says:

Muahahaha, finally my completionism shall pay off…

  16. unique says:

50% rep reduction for preferred players… lol.

biobrains really don’t want new customers, do they?
