With maintenance today, it appears as BioWare has implemented the process to copy characters from live servers to the Public Test Server once the PTS comes online with 1.7. You can see the options in the screenshot below by logging into your account on the Star Wars: The Old Republic website.

As many of you may notice when you log into your account page on swtor.com, there is a new section for “PTS Character Copy”. We’ll be opening up Public Test Server for play testing soon and this link is open in preparation for this. For now, although it will appear to perform all of the actions required to copy a character, the system will not be functional until the Public Test Server is opened. That is, you cannot copy your characters onto PTS until PTS is opened up. Thanks!
This is great news for testing! The last we had heard was that this would be in place for Makeb testing. Kudos to BioWare for getting this done quickly! Hope this means Paid Character Transfers arent soon behind! Will you be testing on the PTS? Leave a comment below!

Now that this is in place I will be definitley be testing on the PTS. This was the only thing holding me back. Now if they could give us a Billion Cartel Coins to test stuff with =) Ok…maybe I am too greedy, baby steps.
I will absolutely be taking advantage of this! Props to bioware for doing what they said they would. They continue to improve the game monthly.
I hope this leads to character transfers between prod servers.
I also wonder if PTR specific character titles will still be given for leveling on the PTR.
I really hope this is the tech that leads to server transfers. I have like 5 characters I’d like to copy, and I’d happily pay for each one. If Bioware really needs money, they should get this going.
