SWTOR Companion Guide: How To Get Treek

Game Update 2.3 is just around the bend and with it comes one of the coolest perks. A new Companion character, Treek. Treek is that little companion that everyone wants. A cute little Ewok female who packs a powerful punch to all who acquire her.

To make it a little easier on us to understand how to get her, the folks at BioWare have scrummed up some information for us and put it in an informative guide. You can read that guide here, or alternatively, I’ve pasted it down below.

Please note that Treek is for a single character only and not account/Legacy bound.

Via BioWare –

Our first new Companion Character since HK-51, Treek, arrives with Game Update 2.3: Titans of Industry. This mysterious alien mercenary is available for all character classes, and can be earned in-game or purchased directly from the Cartel Market. To help clarify these different options, here is an explanation of the different means to acquire Treek.

All methods begin with acquiring Treek for a single character:

From the Cartel Market:

The first step to gaining Treek is to purchase the Mercenary Contract from the Cartel Market (2100 Cartel Coins). This is a single-use item which will start a quest. Completing this quest will earn that character Treek. In order to complete the quest, you will need to be at least Level 10 as it takes place on the fleet.

With In-Game Credits:

The Mercenary Contract is also available from the astromech Legacy Vendor located in the new Cartel Bazaar area of each faction’s Fleet. This version of the Mercenary Contract requires a Legacy Level of 40 and costs 1 million credits. As above, using the Mercenary Contract will begin a quest and your character must be at least Level 10. Completing the quest will unlock Treek for that character.

Note that both versions of the Mercenary Contract can also be traded on the GTN. The non-Cartel Market version will still require Legacy Level 40 to use, so be sure to check which version you are buying before completing the transaction!

The Mercenary Contract (either version) will enter that character’s Collection when used – both versions unlock the same collection item. Completing the quest granted by the Mercenary Contract will also grant the Treek Legacy Unlock, a prerequisite for the Treek Character Perks.

Having acquired Treek via either method, you may now choose to obtain her for other characters on your account.

Via Collections:

The Mercenary Contract can be purchased as an account-wide unlock (like any other item) after it has been unlocked by one character on the account (700 Cartel Coins). Doing so will allow any other character on the account to pull down a copy of the Mercenary Contract, which can be used to start the quest as above.

Via Legacy:

Once one character on a Legacy has completed the quest and received the Treek Legacy Unlock, any other character on that legacy can purchase the Treek Character Perk for the appropriate faction, which will instantly grant that character Treek as a Companion without needing to complete the quest again. The Character Perk is purchased with in-game credits (300,000) and requires Legacy Level 40 and Character Level 10.

I don’t know about you, but I can not WAIT to get Treek as my companion. Where’s she been all my life? 😉

OK, so this was pretty damn helpful. Looks like a cool 1 mil for my Treek fix!

  2. Knighthammer says:

ugg – going to have to grind out some dailys now – need the $1M cred to get it.

    • Barf Wizard says:

that’s no problem brutus! you got that.

im paying the one mil and 700 CC legacy unlock.
20 bucks for a comp = no no.

  3. Yeah, $1mil for legacy unlock plus 700CC’s/character or 2100CC’s per character for whatever toon you want her on….hmmmmm. I may just purchase her for my main, then work on the rest…maybe.

  4. Tom says:

Perhaps I missed something, but isn’t it a little cheaper than that?

    Unlock her once: 2100cc / 1M creds

    Add her to collection: 700cc

Adding her to the collection means she is available account wide, so if I pay the 2100 then the 700, that’s 2800 and I have her on all 12 of my characters.

  5. Syrio says:

So if you go CM route, you can unlock it once for 2100, and for all you character for 2800, but you have to go through the quest every time you do it.

If you go the credit route, it’s 1 million the first time, and 300,000 for each additional unlock, but you only have to do the quest once.

  6. Talon says:

Or you could do a combination from the sounds of it

Unlock it for 1 Million credits and then use the 700 CC via Collection for all your characters, but you have to go through the quest every time per character.

Unlock it for 2100 CC, complete the quest once, and then pay 300k credits per character to gain Treek on each specific character.

  7. ChaiR619 says:

Ill just pay the million credits. I bought her on PTS and had her in full 66 gear and augments. Treek is the best healer and a total beast (My presence is 627). She is like having Ashara and Mako at the same time. You wont really need any other companion after her.

  8. xorcist says:

Completely not worth either currencies. Why it wasn’t just a quest line like HK, then unlocked through legacy exhibits more of the laziness and greed of Bioware. Less content more Cartel Market. Bioware must be part of the dark side cause this deal is getting worse all the time, but it seems like everyone like to sit in denial.

  9. Count Sacula says:

So subscribers have to pay the same price as F2P? I guess EAWARE will continue to squeeze every penny out of existing subs.
