So, today, Star Wars: the Old Republic opened the Public Test Server to subscribers to check out the new Galactic Starfighter expansion, including new class balance changes. What they didn’t announce has me giddy with delight. You see, when we were in beta, some of us discovered that the PTS build would include an updated Cartel Market and Collections, so new cartel packs and their contents would show up the weekend before they went live. As a bad habit, I checked it again when they opened PTS to the general public.
In the Events listing at the very top of the Cartel Market, there were listings for limited-time offers, such as last year’s Life Day Robes and last month’s TRK-R Treatment Chamber. On open PTS, you can see listings right now for a Winter Warrior title, a Festive Tauntaun (I must have this), and then… the THORN Sanitation and Containment Armor sets. Now, anyone who’s played since early days on SWTOR will know that the Containment Officer title was associated with the most celebrated event in the game’s history, the one the players wistfully wish BioWare would bring back. It looks like we’re going to get our wish!
So, I saw this and then with the help of a couple of guildies, we went and found these as well.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen. Those are indeed achievements relating to an actual Life Day event, but far more importantly… it looks like the rakghouls are coming back in an event called the Rakghoul Resurgence!
The tabs mention titles that are awarded for various levels of the achievements, although sadly the PVP tab doesn’t show any titles for killing other players or, my favorite activity, infecting other players – there should totally be a Patient Zero title. There also seems to be some pets you can acquire during the event, most of them plague-infested in some fashion. For the Life Day event hinted at here, if you find Snow-Covered Parcels by using the Life Day Snowball Bomb, you get the legacy title of A Special Snowflake. Very amusing indeed.
Naturally, I must temper my squee here and remind everyone that this is strictly on the open PTS, and that because it’s a testing environment, what happens here may not be going live. However, it would seem awfully weird to have everything in these screenshots and none of it going live. Of course, we have no information (yet) as to when any of this will be going live, but I can’t wait to see the announcements from BioWare.
What do you think, TORWarriors?
